Covid - 19
The COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak has been a global public health crisis. India also became part of this worldwide spread disease and due to the sudden increase in the rate of positive cases.
India took a step for the safety of people and to decrease the rate of further increasing cases; in March 2020, the Government of India ordered a nationwide lockdown which means limiting the movement of 138 crore population as a preventive measure against the COVID-19 pandemic in India. As a result, the lockdown was extended till May 2020. This sudden lockdown created chaos in every part of India, which led to an abrupt pause in livelihood for many migrant workers, laborers, and street vendors as they were working on daily wages; many people lost their jobs and no income for months due to which India was facing starvation and poverty.
THE ROLE OF N.G.O
N.G.O. plays a vital role during these challenging times as they become the bridge between the government and the people.
The government asked for help from non-governmental organizations so the gap between people and government decreases- by providing them with necessities to the underprivileged by supplying medical and protective gear and assisting with awareness campaigns on social distancing.
WE AS A TEAM
Our N.G.O, All India Welfare Society took an initiative to be a helping hand, a relief for others, and to an extent, to ease the suffering who are in need.
We were able to provide cooked food to them on daily basis, during the lockdown. Every day we were able to give out not only cooked food but 2000-2500 food packets to migrant workers and dry food, mini-ration kit, as well as medical and protective gear to daily wage workers, street vendors, people who were underprivileged, and also to the families who were in need without disclosing their identities with the help of proof identity card and address which they used to provide.
